איוון מונטואל, איש היי-טק, מתכתב בעבודותיו עם מציאות הייטקיסטית-טכנולוגית מורכבת. עבודותיו משדרות במבט ראשון אופטימיות צבעונית, העומדת בניגוד למקצב המציאות המסחרר.
בטכניקה מגובשת של ציור שטוח גדוש טקסטורה, המשלבת בתוכה שימוש בהדבקת סלוטייפ ובנייה בקרטון, במשיכות מכחול וטושים, מוצגים בפנינו בניינים צפופים, מפות של תשתיות כבישים מסועפים, מפעלים אימתניים וסכמות פשוטות לציון דמות האדם. מקבץ מוטיבים אלה מוכלים על הבד בשילוב כיתובי גרפיטי, המביעים מחאות, הפניות שונות ורמזים לקריאת המפה העירונית.
השפה האמנותית הזו של איוון מונטואל מושפעת מאמני המחאה - ז'אן דובופה וז'אן מישל בסקיאט, אמנים שיצירתם הוותה ראי ביקורתי לחברה. וכך במבט מעמיק יותר בעבודותיו ניתן לגלות מחאה מוסוות כלפי העיר הטכנולוגית.

Yvan Montuelle, coming from the hi-tech field, corresponds in his works with a complex technological hi-tech reality.
His works project at first glance a colorful optimism which opposes the fast rhythm of reality.
Through a formulated technique of flat painting full of texture, combining the use of adhesive tape and corrugated cardboard constructions, brush strokes and markers, we are presented with dense buildings, maps of tangled road infrastructure, immense factories and simple schemes to represent man.
This group of motifs implemented on the canvas is combined with graffiti expressing protest, various directions and clues for reading the urban map.
